MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Greg Tissi, LPC (He/Him)

Greg is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and an advocate for queer, trans, and Black lives, and supporter of equity and human rights for all.

In a safe and supportive atmosphere, Greg offers a highly personalized, integrative approach, tailored to the individual needs of each client. He works collaboratively with clients to achieve a deeper understanding of self, help them improve relationships, develop effective coping strategies, change negative patterns and take action. Greg believes strongly that cognitive and behavioral changes alone do not promote true, long lasting change. Rather, that a holistic approach including modalities such as play therapy, somatic experiencing, mindfulness, and nature therapy, in conjunction with psychoeducation, talk therapy, and behavioral approaches foster insight, growth, and change.

What It’s Like Working With Greg

Greg will work with you to awaken to your own healing powers, within safe space to explore, and with tools to help you track your experience and build on your strengths. He will help you work with the ways you hold past hurt, grief, or trauma, and support your natural ability to heal, connect, focus, and increase your capacity for joy.

In session, you’ll find that Greg is really interested in hearing, understanding, and connecting. He is engaged, thoughtful, and curious, often igniting deep reflection, processing, and newfound perspective. In addition to talking, you may find yourself in somatic meditation with Greg, drawing, or engaging in deep, life giving breathwork. You can expect sacred space held just for you, room to breathe, and authentic, non-judgmental support.

Greg may be a good fit for you if you’re ready to get off the exhausting treadmill, move with intention, and discover the trust and respect you have envisioned for yourself.

As a St. Louis born, Mizzou Psychology undergrad, and an UMSL Counseling postgrad, Greg’s journey started and returned here. Greg knew he needed far more education about the world we live in, the people who live here, and his role in it all which led to rock climbing, which led to becoming an outdoor professional. This combined with his early experience in therapy led him to combine his two favorite things: the natural world and the potent powers of psychotherapy.

When he’s not in session, Greg fills his free time with cycling, packrafting, flyfishing, rock climbing, birding, caving, hiking, and digging his toes into the grass. As well, his "indoor cat" hobby is cooking, especially after traveling by bicycle to over 20 countries during the last decade, in search of authentic cuisine and the kind of education only traveling can offer. Greg is grateful for his past, resides in the present, and understands that the future is a mystery.
