MEET YOUR THERAPISTs

JEAN RICKS-AYER, PLPC (She/her)

Under the supervision of Susan Hall, MO LPC 002703

Jean is a queer-identifying, provisionally licensed professional counselor, who believes in equitable human rights for all. She holds strongly, that we are all so much more than our brain, and that an integrative, holistic, and embodied approach is the pathway to self-awareness, understanding, growth, and healing. Anchoring in curiosity and Internal Family Systems (IFS) also known as “parts work”, Jean will help you come to understand the many parts of you, that make you, you: How these parts work in harmony and opposition, and ultimately, how these parts came to be as means of finding clarity, confidence, and courage. Ultimately, Jean’s hope, is to help you tap into your truest Self, through curiosity, open-mindedness, and deep thoughtfulness.

In session, you’ll find that Jean is lovingly direct, warm, real, playful, and deeply compassionate. With a neurodivergent brain, high sensitivity, and strong intuition, you’ll find both comfort in her authenticity, and challenge in her passion for deep, expansive work. While session will usually include some verbal processing, it may also include quiet somatic work, deep breathing, visualization, art, or playing. In addition to traditional office therapy, Jean is excited to offer eco-sessions, where individuals can engage their mind, body, and senses in fuller, more connected way.

Jean may be a great fit for you if you are open to new possibilities, deep thinking, and even deeper feeling. If you are willing to get uncomfortable, and really interested in knowing, understanding, and living within your deepest integrity, buckle-up, settle in, and enjoy the ride.

Jean holds a master’s degree in professional mental health counseling from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She has completed level 1 and 2 training in Internal Family Systems through the Internal Family Systems Institute, level 1 and 2 Reiki training, and will begin Somatic Experiencing training in June 2023.

GREG TISSI, PLPC (He/Him)

Under the supervision of Susan Hall, MO LPC 002703

Greg is a provisionally licensed professional counselor and an advocate for queer, trans, and Black lives, and supporter of equity and human rights for all.

In a safe and supportive atmosphere, Greg offers a highly personalized, integrative approach, tailored to the individual needs of each client. He works collaboratively with clients to achieve a deeper understanding of self, help them improve relationships, develop effective coping strategies, change negative patterns and take action. Greg believes strongly that cognitive and behavioral changes alone do not promote true, long lasting change. Rather, that a holistic approach including modalities such as play therapy, somatic experiencing, mindfulness, and nature therapy, in conjunction with psychoeducation, talk therapy, and behavioral approaches foster insight, growth, and change. Greg will work with you to awaken to your own healing powers, within safe space to explore, and with tools to help you track your experience and build on your strengths. He will help you work with the ways you hold past hurt, grief, or trauma, and support your natural ability to heal, connect, focus, and increase your capacity for joy.

In session, you’ll find that Greg is really interested in hearing, understanding, and connecting. He is engaged, thoughtful, and curious, often igniting deep reflection, processing, and newfound perspective. In addition to talking, you may find yourself in somatic meditation with Greg, drawing, or engaging in deep, life giving breathwork. You can expect sacred space held just for you, room to breathe, and authentic, non-judgmental support.

Greg may be a good fit for you if you’re ready to get off the exhausting treadmill, move with intention, and discover the trust and respect you have envisioned for yourself.
